WHAT IS IT?
Ride and Decide is our try-before-you-buy surfboard program designed to take the guesswork out of second-hand board shopping. Whether you're looking for your first board or upgrading your current ride, you’ll get the chance to test boards during a lesson with us before deciding if it’s the right fit for you.
Each board in the program is listed by a previous Honu Honi student and comes with its own story and style. If you find one you like, you can ride it in real conditions with expert coaching support — and if you love it, it’s yours. Simple as that.
How does it work?
Now let's cover the nitty-gritty details for what's involved...
1. Got a surf board to sell?
Bring it to us and we'll agree on a price together including a small commission fee for Honu Honi.
2. Try before you buy
You can try out any of the available Ride & Decide surf boards during a social surf or in one of our lessons.*
3. Love it?
If you trial the board and decide its a good fit for you, you pay for it and take it home, and we pay out the agreed amount to the original owner.
4. Not the one
If you decide the board isn't the right fit for you, that's not a problem. It will now be available to anyone wanting to trial the board. There are plenty more fish in the sea.
* If the surf board is damaged during the trial period, we will buy the surfboard from the person selling it for the agreed upon price and the person who broke it will cover the cost of the repairs.
